Gyllyngvase beach
Within walking distance

If you just want to park your car for the day, within walking distance of your holiday home you will find

Beautiful beaches:- Gyllyngvase beach, just over a mile away, has a European blue flag for safety and cleanliness. It is part of a deep, long sandy stretch of coastline on the bay side of the town and attracts both residents and visitors year round. The beach and immediate area includes a large café and separate ice cream/soft drink kiosks, car parking, toilets and telephones, lifeguard centre, volleyball net, deck chair hire and tennis courts. Queen Mary Gardens, which adjoin the beach and the coastal footpath, is one of Britain's Green Flag Award winning parks. The beach is on The South West Coast Path.

Falmouth - Looking south

Local Cornish Shops:- Falmouth is built right on the water front. The main street runs parallel to the water and contains a wide variety of shops, galleries, craft shops, fresh seafood sellers, chandlers and vendors of all things nautical, restaurants, pubs and bars.

Packet Quays is perfectly located - on the water front, just down from the Prince Edward Pier (seen at bottom of picture) but only 300 yards from the start of the main street (running from bottom to top of picture). Far enough away to be quiet and peaceful but close enough to wander down for fresh bread and a newspaper to read over breakfast as you gaze across the water

St. Mawes

Ferries:- There is an extensive network of Ferries running from the Prince of Wales Pier.

From the pier it is a short trip across the bay to
the pretty fishing village of St Mawes with its small boat-filled harbour and its impressive Tudor castle. From St Mawes you can walk the coastal paths around the beautiful Roseland Penisula or visit the secluded beaches, before returning by ferry.

There are also water taxis to local restaurants and pubs, a regular  ferry services to Truro – a “not to be missed” hour long trip up the beautiful Fal River - and across to historic Flushing – from where the
"packet service" sailed to deliver mail to every country in the British Empire between 1688 and 1852.

Cruises are also available to the Helford River, Frenchman;s Creek and the Carrick Roads. Boats also operate trips for diving, fishing, wildlife watching and even dolphin and whale spotting.

Ships & Castles Pool

Swimming pools:- Close to Pendennis Castle, the imposingly futuristic Ships and Castles Leisure Pool has a fun-packed swimming pool with a wave machine, a fitness suite and other sporting amenities.

The National Maritime Museum:- The museum is located in a new, award winning building on the Falmouth waterfront. It  houses state-of-the-art interactive displays that depict both the nation's and Cornwall's maritime heritage.

Queen Mary Gardens

Gardens:- Falmouth has four central public gardens - Kimberley Park, Gyllyngdune, Fox Rosehill and Queen Mary, winner of the Green Flag Park Award for both 1998 and 1999. All are within a mile or so of the apartment or a short car ride.

Originally these were large private gardens, developed when Falmouth's world wide links across the seas allowed collectors to bring back wonderfully exotic plants. Owing to the incredibly mild climate, species such as Banana trees, Palms, Camellias, Abutilons, Azaleas, Rhododendrons and many unusual species of Bamboo still thrive today.
